The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) is all out to embrace 2020. The country’s largest trade and exhibition centre is looking forward to taking on the coming year through solid investments into its facilities and amenities.
Just this year, MITEC has gone through an extensive investment fit-out whereby the Venue will have two additional rooms with the flexibility of theatre or banquet style seating. Visitors can also experience a refreshing interior design in some areas such as the pre-function lobby, board rooms, VIP lounge, VIP suites and meeting rooms. MITEC sees several building upgrades which includes the completed work on central pillar indication where a colour code is assigned to differentiate its three double-volume floors.
Pairing Functionality and Tastefulness
The uplift in structure highly incorporates the aesthetics with MITEC enhancing its building alongside a modern contemporary concept of Interior Design project. Undergoing the process, MITEC focused on multiple open spaces and private facilities which not only upgrade the spaces’ functionality but also the character of the mega structure.
The open spaces are designed with islands of ‘oasis’ which contain several resting points with comfortable furniture surrounded by greenery. This an ingenious method of breaking the monotony of the steel envelope.
Famous for its huge event halls, MITEC is also more signified by colour and lighting adaptation which further enhances and highlights its attention to the public.
When it comes to food and beverages, visitors will be able to satisfy their palates in a new Garden Court café at the North entrance, serving as a large oasis at the atrium, creating a networking hub that combines the culture of people with food.
Apart from the much-celebrated open spaces, the value of space is also increased by having a transformed function room that houses up to 550 pax with round tables – all capable to cater for banquets, confex, seminars, shows and meetings. Beside the function hall is a multi-purpose exhibition gallery, built to impress event organisers.
VIP guests and dignitaries shall be better addressed with the newly upgraded VIP rooms, furbished with meeting rooms and private bathroom. Designed for people, created to inspire, the refurbished MITEC will be a canvas for any type of events moving forward.
Better Times Ahead Powered By A Great Year
Times have been kind to MITEC as the Venue has graced some of the world’s largest and prominent events such as the Global Halal Summit 2019, SEMICON Southeast Asia 2019, ASEAN Super 8, POWERGen Asia 2019, Malaysia International Water Convention 2019 and many more.
Playing space and location to its advantage, MITEC also successfully attracted some of Malaysia’s long-standing business events such as Beyond Paradigm Summit 2019, TCCA Critical Communications World, EPC Summit 2019 and the Selangor International Business Summit 2019.
As the Venue turned two in August 2019, MITEC was proud to also reveal its business performance with over 300 events held to date. In 2020, MITEC will witness 14 confirmed major events from January – December including the 2020 AIPC Annual Conference and 62nd General Assembly in June next year.
The Constant Push To Stay On The Top
While the Venue was certainly busy serving guests, the Marketing and Sales team worked full swing towards promoting MITEC globally. Some of the tradeshows participated include IMEX Frankfurt, IT&CM Shanghai and Bangkok, IMEX Las Vegas, IBTM World, and many more.
The team at MITEC also took no rest when it came to establishing itself in the local business events industry by attending events such as the UFI Asia Pacific Conference 2019, AIPC Conference 2019, BE Forum 2019, BE and ICCA Asia Pacific Summit Penang, whereby representatives were in panel discussions as key opinion leaders.
In the partnership space, MITEC inked multiple deals within and out of the industry. MITEC went into partnership with TalentCorp Malaysia to nurture and grow a pool of local talent for the hospitality industry; signed an MOU with MACEOS, the Vietnam Malaysia Business Association VIMBIZ to enhance and harvest trade and exhibition opportunities, and has announced Vietnam as its focus country for the 2020 programme. These parties are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to international relationship building.
Apart from proactive participation that benefits the industry, MITEC also managed to nab several awards adding to the string of accolades under its belt. The Venue is recognised through the Editor’s Choice Awards by CEI Asia, won the Social Media Excellence Award (MICE Venue) by Malaysia Social Media Week 2019 Awards and bagged various categories at the Culinaire Malaysia 2019 and Selangor International Culinary Festival 2019.
Thinking Beyond 2020
In the last run of 2019, MITEC launched a Guest Experience Management Survey and will add two more languages to its website – German and Hindi. Currently available in three languages of English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin, the team at MITEC opines strongly that the website as a business touch point is an important platform for visitors to understand the Venue better. MITEC will be revolutionising online interaction via a soon-to-be-launched chatbot platform.
The Centre is further investing in AI and the digital sphere with a BE Conference App development and an e-corporate loyalty program.
Apart from soft facilities, the Venue’s free commuter bus services have started operations and this will enhance the connectivity to MITEC, ensure logistical convenience, peace of mind for visitors’ and more importantly, act beyond a venue provider. Two buses of 25-seater and 44-seater covers MITEC’s precinct and KL City Centre, respectively on daily basis.
The hard work and professionalism of venue manager Prisma Galeri Sdn Bhd (PGSB) has made MITEC a leading trade and exhibition centre that is self-sustaining in its operations.
Chief Executive Officer of PGSB (MITEC), Gunther Beissel wraps up the year by concluding, “Being a forward-thinking Venue, we strategically plan for the future with a continuous improvement plan. Our team goes far beyond venue space in position MITEC as an international trade and business platform where, e-commerce and physical touches play an integral part to meet. We can make ordinary, extraordinary and very unique!
“We are flexible and have a strong belief that together we are better with team members remain our biggest asset. We have built a diverse team of passionate, innovative and professionally experienced personnel who are committed to creating an amazing experience at MITEC”.
