Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), along with 15 esteemed industry partners, marked a significant presence at IBTM World Barcelona for the 13th consecutive year. The event, held from November 28-30 at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, showcased MyCEB and its partners’ commitment to positioning Malaysia as the preferred business events destination in Asia.
The Malaysian entourage’s presence at IBTM World Barcelona resulted in positive outcomes and numerous networking opportunities, opening doors to new markets and underscoring Malaysia’s commitment to fostering partnerships and growth in the dynamic business events industry.
“I firmly believe that IBTM World has always been and will continue to be a strategic platform for us, as it is one of the avenues that opens up to the European and international market. This is my first tradshow since taking office this month, and I am delighted to be part of this occasion and look forward to concluding successful meetings with some of the world’s biggest players,” Mr. Azman continues.
Since its establishment in 2009, MyCEB has supported 2857 business events, attracting around 2.3 million delegates and contributing approximately RM17.4 billion in estimated economic impact. In 2023 alone, the national bureau successfully secured 305 events from 2023 to 2030, translating to RM4.8 billion in estimated economic impact.
Some of the successful bid wins include the International Conference on Emergency Medicine (ICEM) 2027, ENLIT ASIA 2024, and Federation of Asian and Oceanic Physiological Societies 2027, which will cumulatively generate RM57.26 million or 11.23 million Euros in estimated economic impact.
Under the overarching theme, “Tekat” takes center stage, symbolising a traditional craft of embroidering gold thread on a velvet-type base cloth. The gold thread in “Tekat” mirrors the golden opportunities that Malaysia offers for the creation of masterful business events in the destination.
Embodying the spirit of Tekat, MyCEB took the opportunity to launch the Bureau’s MyTripleE programme under the Meet in Malaysia campaign. “MyTripleE was incubated and launched to redefine the future of business events through three initiatives, namely Excel, Elevate, and Enliven. Each initiative has a different aim and holistically covers both regional and international audiences. MyCEB’s role would be to provide both financial and non-financial support to our deserving applicants. We look forward to more inquiries and engagements with our stakeholders to better understand and improve on our offerings,” commented Mr. Azman.
