The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is spearheading the ‘CF-Hotels’ initiative, urging hotel operators and tourists alike to engage in climate change mitigation efforts.
At the core of this initiative lies the www.cf-hotels.com online platform, meticulously crafted for hotel and lodging operators to compile an exhaustive environmental inventory. This comprehensive data encompasses energy usage, water consumption, waste management, and greenhouse gas emissions, allowing operators to gauge their carbon footprint accurately. By conducting such analyses, hotels gain valuable insights into the environmental impact of their operations and the efficacy of their sustainable management practices. Furthermore, armed with this data, they can strategise and implement measures to curtail greenhouse gas emissions, thereby potentially enhancing profitability and reducing energy expenditure.
Participation in the CF-Hotels initiative also offers hoteliers the opportunity to pursue STAR (Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating) certification and vie for the prestigious Thailand Tourism Awards.
With a burgeoning network comprising 160 hotels across Thailand, the CF-Hotels platform presents tourists with an eco-conscious choice. By opting to stay at these accredited establishments, visitors can actively contribute to climate change prevention efforts.
TAT collaborated closely with the Research Unit for Energy Economic and Ecological Management at Chiang Mai University’s Science and Technology Research Institute to develop the CF-Hotels platform. This partnership operates under the auspices of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation.
Aligned with TAT’s overarching objective of fostering sustainable tourism, the CF-Hotels initiative underscores the agency’s unwavering commitment to achieving Net Zero Tourism.
