Malaysia’s dedication to innovation and sustainability within the Halal industry will be prominently showcased in the upcoming Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2024). Themed “Globalising Halal Innovations,” MIHAS 2024 will serve as the premier platform for global Halal enterprises to present their cutting-edge products, services, and technologies across 14 carefully curated clusters. Hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS 2024 is scheduled to take place from 17 to 20 September 2024 at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
This year’s edition of MIHAS aims to advance innovation within the global Halal ecosystem, aligning with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and Halal Industrial Master Plan 2030 (HIMP 2030), reinforcing Malaysia’s role as a global Halal hub.
The Halal industry, recognised as a high-impact sector in Malaysia’s Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP), plays a pivotal role in the nation’s socio-economic development, fostering job creation and enhancing living standards.
MIHAS 2024 will spotlight innovation and sustainability across various product segments such as pharmaceuticals, Islamic finance, fintech, lifestyle, modest fashion, food ingredients, and related services. The emphasis will be on the value-added elements and integrity of the Halal value chain, fostering trust among global consumers and meeting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) expectations. Malaysia’s Halal ingredient exports reached RM23.35 billion in 2022, with the global Halal ingredients market valued at over US$60 billion according to a 2023 report by The Business Research Company.
MIHAS Chairman, Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, highlighted MIHAS’ pivotal role in facilitating dialogue and business connections to enhance consumer confidence in Halal products and services, including through the International Sourcing Programme (INSP).
MIHAS 2024 anticipates attracting over 40,000 trade visitors and featuring 2,000 exhibition booths from 45 countries, underscoring its significance as a global networking platform. By providing insights into industry trends and consumer preferences, MIHAS supports businesses in staying competitive in the global Halal market.
Moreover, MIHAS will continue to drive growth and sustainability in the Halal market through collaborations and access to global supply chains, with initiatives such as the INSP contributing to substantial sales figures.
The MIHAS Knowledge Hub will offer conferences, forums, and seminars focusing on market trends, access, and sourcing requirements, providing an invaluable platform for the global Halal business community to exchange experiences and insights.
MIHAS’ commitment to innovation has been recognised globally, including being awarded the World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO) Award for ‘Best Use of Information Technology’ in 2022.
As MIHAS 2024 prepares for its 20th edition, it celebrates Malaysia’s pioneering role in the Halal industry, demonstrating two decades of dedication to trade and innovation within the sector, affirming its position as a key platform for showcasing Halal products and services.
