(V) Drawing Calligraphy
Create your own artwork on a hanji using the initials of your name. This might be one of the rare chances to experience Korean traditional calligraphy!
Munjado is a type of folk painting at Joseon Dynasty that expresses letters in pictorial ways such as calligraphy.
121 Bukchon, an art studio that offers a wonderful place for you to create your traditional artwork while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Hanok. Here, you can have the special experience of calligraphy with a hanji and pictorial letters harmonised. Draw a picture on a hanji, traditional Korean handmade paper which has been highly acclaimed with its excellence in smooth and durable texture.
A hanji of 50 to 200-year-old antique books will be provided for the experience. You can express in anyway by visualizing the initials of your name as there is no rough sketch or a set rule. While drawing, you have the time to think about the meaning of your name.

If you want more on modern options, the teachers can guide you to draw a design based on your favourite K-pop and K-drama, or the photos you have taken in Korea. Moreover, you will have a friendly and joyful time learning Korean drawing techniques with your teammates or people of other nationalities.
Drinking Drawing, a fine arts workshop located in the vicinity of Seokchon Lake where you can draw using diverse materials and designs such as self-portraits painting, pop-art portrait paintings of K-pop star, landscape acrylic paintings of the landmarks in Seoul, coloured pencil paintings and any free-theme paintings.
A diverse welcome beverages ranging from lightly enjoyable types of traditional Korea tea (chrysanthemum tea, jujube tea, etc) to alcoholic drinks including Makgeolli, Soju, as well as traditional drinks will be provided to participants for free.
If individual photos are sent beforehand, there could be pre-sketched canvas prepared for participants to ease the process. Adding messages or slogans on the drawing will make the drawing more private and special to the participants and it will be the best souvenirs for them. (VII) Korean Hangeul Class
Hangeul, the world’s most easily learnable alphabet, consisting scientific and philosophical writing systems, which linguists consider it as the most ideal alphabet in use. The Korean language was created by King Sejong the Great in 1443, promoting literacy among common people in Joseon Dynasty, also a symbol of the Korean life, culture and history.Once you learn Hangeul, you can truly understand the Korean culture through unique Korean expressions and its characteristics.
Hangul, consists of 24 basic letters (originally 28), including 14 consonants and 10 vowels, where the consonant characters are formed with curved or angled lines. It is the most valued treasure of Korea’s heritage and national pride.
Haerang’s Korean, a Korean language reading programme that allows foreigners to learn Korean in the easiest and most efficient way based on the characteristics of Hangeul within 2 hours! This systematic programme enables participants to combine consonants and vowels to read most of Hangeul and able to write their names in Korean in a short period of time.
The teacher, Geum Haerang is a Korean language expert with her qualification majored in Korean literature, and her poem was even used in a public Korean language textbook. Certificates will be given upon completion of the lesson.
(VIII) Woodburning Art
Woodburning (pyrography) is a type of craft that consists of drawing pictures or writing letter by burning wood with a soldering iron (pyrography pen). Feel the intimacy that transcends culture and language by using wood as a medium of communication, combining woodburning and beautiful Hangeul design.
Merrywood Co-op located in Seoul Upcycling Plaza (SUP), the world’s largest upcycling cultural complex, offering woodcraft classes to local and international visitors. At the beginning of the class, you will be introduced to who they are, what they do, what you will make and the basic safety rules.
The woodcraft experts will assist you in making your special eco-friendly souvenir, such as how to use the wood burning (pyrography) technique to design the back scratcher and keychain by drawing pictures or writing Korean alphabet.
You can write meaningful words such as encouraging phrases, witty words or a famous line from movies or books in ways to make your woodwork special. Learn about various Korean phrases that specially prepared for you, then choose the one you favour and engrave it on the wood. You can also write your name in Korean and engrave it on a wooden keychain. In addition, you can create your own back scratcher design and enhance its value through wood burning, making it great for both practical and decorative use.
