Over 2,000 revellers thronged Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson recently and joined in for the biggest party of the year at the iconic beach resort’s much anticipated New Year’s Eve Countdown celebration. At its Funtastic Countdown Carnival, guests bade farewell to 2022 and welcomed 2023 at the resort’s beach for a fun evening of dazzling lights and colours, bustling energy, adrenaline pumping music and top-notch family-friendly entertainment.
“Our beach carnival themed New Year’s Eve multi-sensory celebration extravaganza allowed our guests to usher the New Year with fun and frivolity with their loved ones as they embarked on a gastronomic adventure with our delectable International BBQ Buffet dinner by the beach and experienced an unforgettable countdown with exciting activities including fun carnival games, a petting zoo, cinema under the stars, live music and entertainment, culminating in a spectacular fireworks spectacle at the stroke of midnight”, she added.
The party kicked off at 5 pm on 31st December 2022 with attendees challenging each other to the 10 fun carnival games – Buzz The Wire, Bounce Basketball, Crazy Driver, Ring Toss, Shooting Gallery, Coconut Bowling, Hook The Duck and Eye Rollin Stick – where they had the opportunity to redeem amazing prizes. Young ones and families, meanwhile, got up close and personal with farm animals including rabbits, American Silkie and Polish chickens, Fantail pigeons, Guinea pigs, Iguanas, Saifin and Bearded dragons, Blue Tongue skunks, parrots, Tarantulas, frogs, scorpions, chameleons and geckos, hedgehogs, hamsters, Madagascar roaches and Phyton snakes at the petting zoo.
Foodies rejoiced as they were treated to an impressive and sumptuous International BBQ Buffet dinner featuring mouthwatering selections including Waldorf salad, assorted dim sum, seafood and vegetarian tempura, whole roasted lamb, chicken tandoori, beef striploin, chicken satay and an assortment of soups and desserts. This was followed by an energetic dance-along party hosted by the talented Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson Sports & Recreations Team who set the scene for a remarkable night ahead, encouraging guests to blow off some steam, let loose and get ready to be the life of the party by showing off their best dance moves.
Rydee & The Wei Li Trio, and Melyn, Winfred and The Seasons took to the stage and serenaded revellers with a repertoire of crowd-pleasing hits and a medley of R&B, Soul, Blues, Jazz and Pop tunes. Throughout the night, roving performers entertained the crowd and guests had the opportunity to capture remarkable memories and Instagrammable moments with LED stilt walkers, a walking magician, and Captain America, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee characters.
For the first time ever, guests could also spend an evening under the stars and relax, unwind and disconnect, at the resort’s inaugural outdoor cinema. Attendees enjoyed a screening of a local film favourite, Ola Bola with the clear, starry night sky over their heads, crisp white sand between their toes and fresh sea breeze in their hair, while munching on caramel popcorn.
Highly-skilled fire dancers then turned up the heat with a heart-thumping and sizzling fire show, keeping guests on the edge of their seats, with a fearless display of well-choreographed and mind-blowing fire stunts, followed by a mesmerising laser light projection show lighting up the night sky to bring the Aurora Borealis spectacularly to life.
There were also other various activities for the enjoyment of celebrants including inflatable games such as human knocking balls, inflatable tropical maze, inflatable giant soccer, inflatable giant dart and a 9m inflatable rock climbing activity.
Party-goers also had the chance to win fantastic prizes from the “Spin To Win” game and walk home with amazing gifts from the event sponsors – AirAsia Ride, Platinum Charters, Village Grocer, Oppo Malaysia, Tranquilice, Dr. Ed & Co and Souled Out. Emcees Nick Davis and Samantha Lee kept the crowd on their toes leading up to a vibrant countdown with a front row seat to an inspiring and magical fireworks display, illuminating the Port Dickson sky. As midnight chimes, the celebrations did not just end yet with the party in full-swing as the lively crowd filled with energetic buzz, danced into the early morning to the infectious beats of the resident DJ spinning the hottest dance tracks, signalling a palpable sense of excitement for the new year ahead.
