Weddings today are no longer confined to a single ballroom or a traditional ceremony. Couples increasingly seek experiences that reflect their personalities, cultures and stories. At Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, that philosophy came to life recently through “A Wedding Affair”, an immersive showcase that transformed the hotel into a canvas for modern celebrations.
Held for a curated group of wedding planners, industry professionals and prospective couples, the event welcomed around 80 guests and offered a journey through the many ways a wedding can unfold within the property’s lush grounds and elegant spaces.
The morning began in the hotel’s leafy Courtyard, where guests were greeted by Hotel Manager Mark Steele and Director of Sales Megalah over a relaxed breakfast. From there, attendees were divided into groups for a guided walk-through of the hotel’s wedding venues, each styled to illustrate how different cultures, traditions and celebration styles can be seamlessly hosted under one roof.
A Courtyard Made for Intimate Beginnings
The first stop set a romantic tone. Nestled amid cascading waterfalls, gentle fountains and lush greenery, the Courtyard had been styled as an Akad Nikah setting, complete with a beautifully decorated ceremonial hut.
The tranquil outdoor space demonstrated how the venue can host intimate ceremonies such as solemnisation rites, registry of marriage celebrations or pre-dinner cocktail receptions. With its natural backdrop, the Courtyard offers couples a picturesque setting that feels both private and serene.
A Royal Suite Designed for Cultural Traditions
From the garden setting, the showcase moved to one of the hotel’s most distinctive spaces – the Royal Suite Duplex.
Spanning two floors, the expansive suite features three king-bedded rooms, a spacious living and dining area, and a luxurious master bathroom complete with a jacuzzi and sauna. During the event, the suite was styled for two different traditions: a Chinese Tea Ceremony and a vibrant Sangeet Night celebration.
Garden Romance Beneath the Open Sky
Another highlight of the tour was the Garden Wedding space, where a floral archway framed a ceremonial aisle lined with theatre seating.
Set on the hotel’s rear lawn, the open-air venue offers a tranquil setting for couples seeking an outdoor wedding surrounded by nature. The garden can accommodate up to 150 guests, making it ideal for couples who want the romance of an outdoor ceremony while still enjoying the convenience of a full-service hotel venue.
Ballroom Elegance for Grand Celebrations
For larger celebrations, the tour concluded at the Rafflesia Ballroom, a pillarless space illuminated by its signature raindrop-inspired chandelier.
The ballroom was styled with three VIP table concepts reflecting Malay, Chinese and buffet-style wedding receptions. Enhanced with LED screens, professional sound systems, disco lighting and follow-spot illumination, the venue demonstrated how technology and design can elevate a traditional banquet into a full-scale celebration.
With a capacity of about 300 guests, the ballroom remains the hotel’s centrepiece for grand wedding dinners and receptions.
A Wedding That Takes Over the Entire Hotel
One of the more distinctive offerings presented during the event was the Buy-Out Wedding Experience, which allows couples to reserve the entire property for two days and one night.
Under this concept, the couple and their guests effectively “own” the hotel during the celebration. The package includes access to all 152 rooms including the Royal Suite Duplex, along with event spaces, wedding dinner arrangements, meals for guests and use of the hotel’s recreational facilities.
The approach reflects a growing trend in destination-style weddings, where celebrations unfold over multiple days and venues rather than a single evening.
A Taste of Peranakan Heritage
The showcase concluded at Madam Lee Nyonya Private Dining, where the hotel introduced its newly curated Peranakan Wedding Package.
Guests were treated to a Peranakan buffet luncheon while taking in décor inspired by the vibrant colours and intricate motifs of Nyonya heritage. Floral arrangements framed the grand staircase, while a VIP table overlooking the dining hall created an intimate yet elegant setting for family celebrations.
Fashion, Partnerships and the Modern Wedding Ecosystem
No wedding showcase would be complete without bridal couture. The event culminated in a fashion presentation by The Gown Atelier, featuring designer collections from names such as Stephane Rolland, Viktor & Rolf and Saiid Kobeisy.
The showcase highlighted the collaborative nature of today’s wedding industry, with partners including Precious Wedding, 23 Century Events, One and Only, Bridepay and Ken Music contributing to the experience. Together with the hotel’s dedicated wedding planning team, the event illustrated how modern couples increasingly look for integrated, end-to-end wedding services.
For Palm Garden Hotel Putrajaya, the showcase served as more than just a venue tour. It was a reminder that weddings today are evolving into multi-day experiences celebrations that blend tradition, creativity and hospitality into moments that couples and their families will remember for a lifetime.
