When the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) opened its doors in 2009, it marked more than the arrival of Sarawak’s first purpose-built international convention centre. It was the beginning of a bold vision to place Sarawak on the global map of business tourism.
Since then, BCCK has become a stage where culture, innovation and commerce converge. From its stunning riverfront setting on the Kuching Isthmus, the centre has welcomed over 4 million delegates, clients and visitors to more than 3,000 events, each one weaving Sarawak’s story of culture, adventure and nature into the global conversation.
Its rainforest-inspired architecture, its roof, shaped like the native ririk leaf, reflects Sarawak’s heritage while symbolising the centre’s dedication to sustainability. Just 15 minutes from Kuching’s Waterfront precinct and 20 minutes from the international airport, BCCK is perfectly placed at the heart of connection.
From Riverfront to World Stage
Managed by Hemisphere Corporation Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of SEDC, BCCK has grown into one of Malaysia’s most trusted and celebrated venues. Over the past 16 years, it has hosted world-leading conferences in medicine, engineering, renewable energy and beyond, including the 55th International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the 27th World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT), the 42nd Annual Conference of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), the Asia Pacific Neuro-Critical Care Conference (APNCC), the 10th World Congress of Herpetology, Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition (APGH), International Energy Week (IEW), among others.
At its core lies the Great Hall, a 2,793-square metre, pillar-free marvel that seats up to 5,000 delegates in theatre style. Alongside its 14 flexible meeting rooms and a daylight-filled concourse overlooking mangroves and the Sarawak River, BCCK offers not just a venue, but an experience where nature and functionality meet.
Award-Winning Excellence
BCCK’s journey has been marked by milestones of excellence. Time and again, it has stood out at the Malaysia Business Events Awards (MBEA), clinching the Purpose-Built Convention and Exhibition Centre Excellence Award in both 2024 and 2025.
The 2024 edition was especially memorable, as BCCK walked away with three major honours, including recognition for its own homegrown events, proof of its creativity, innovation and leadership in shaping Malaysia’s business events scene.

BCCK Chief Operating Officer (COO) Rayner Simon attributed these achievements to the unwavering support of Business Events Sarawak, the Sarawak Tourism Board, the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, MyCEB, valued clients and industry partners, while paying tribute to the entire BCCK team:

“These awards are a shared victory. They belong to the entire BCCK family, past and present, and to our partners who share our vision for Sarawak’s growth through business events.

The numbers tell the story too: in 2024 alone, BCCK hosted 519 events, drew more than 30,000 delegates and contributed an estimated RM289 million in direct economic impact, benefits that ripple across Sarawak’s tourism, hospitality, retail and transport sectors, creating opportunities and livelihoods for local communities. With strong momentum and forward event bookings, BCCK continues to be the preferred venue for both national and international organisers. Upcoming highlights include:

- 23rd World Veterinary Poultry Association Congress (6–10 October 2025)
- 2nd Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition (APGH) (9–11 June 2026)

Expanding Possibilities
As Sarawak’s reputation grows, so too does the demand for larger-scale gatherings. Answering this call, BCCK is embarking on its most ambitious chapter yet: BCCK2, a state-of-the-art expansion set for completion in Quarter 1, 2028.
More than bricks and mortar, BCCK2 is envisioned as a future-ready hub where ideas spark, communities connect and transformative change begins.

Future-Ready Facilities
Every detail of BCCK2 has been designed to inspire and enable:
- A 5,936 sqm Main Hall with a 12-metre ceiling, accommodating 9,500 delegates or 340 exhibition booths, divisible into three halls, with a panoramic concourse offering sweeping river views.
- A 2,342 sqm multi-purpose hall for 1,000 banquet guests
- 20 new breakout rooms, expanding total capacity to 34 across the two centres
- A five-level car park with 1,600 bays and EV charging points
- A fully enclosed air-conditioned link bridge connecting BCCK and BCCK2
- A sustainability-first design, awarded Bronze GreenRE and Certified under the Green Building Index

The new development also reinvents dining at the Raintree Restaurant. Opening in Quarter 1 2026, its refined setting will host boutique functions of up to 180 guests, perfect for intimate celebrations, creative launches, and milestone moments.
Driving Growth for Sarawak
The expansion of BCCK with BCCK2 is more than an investment in infrastructure; it’s an investment in Sarawak’s future. As a flagship catalyst under the Post COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, the integrated complex will amplify Sarawak’s ability to attract knowledge-rich international events that generate research, trade and investment opportunities.
With its award-winning reputation, proven track record and bold expansion, BCCK is not only ready for the future, it is helping shape it. For organisers seeking an impactful venue in Southeast Asia, BCCK offers more than space. It delivers a uniquely Borneo experience that drives connections, growth and global impact.
