The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) has been recognised for its commitment to sustainable tourism, inclusive marketing, and impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts at the Green and Geopark Excellence Awards (GAGA) 2025.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming presented the Best Sustainable and Inclusive Marketing Campaign, and Best Corporate CSR Project Award to STB, represented by Chief Executive Officer Julinus Jeffery Jimit.
The award presentation, organised by the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), was held at the Langkawi International Convention Centre on Saturday (Nov 22).
STB’s win for Best Corporate CSR Project highlights its Lampoopalooza initiative this year, where the team collaborated with the Sabah Society for the Deaf to strengthen awareness and communication between tourism frontliners and the Deaf community.
Through this collaboration, the Sabah Tourism’s staff learned basic sign language as a proactive step toward creating a more welcoming tourism environment.
Meanwhile, the Best Sustainable and Inclusive Marketing Campaign recognises STB’s effort to ensure Sabah’s tourism promotions are accessible, inclusive, and reflective of responsible travel values.
“These awards are meaningful for STB and for Sabah because they reflect the effort we’ve put into making tourism more responsible, accessible, and genuinely people-focused,” said Julinus.
He said STB will continue strengthening initiatives that support sustainability and inclusivity, ensuring that the board’s marketing and outreach efforts speak to travellers while also aligning with real on-the-ground needs.
“We want to build a tourism environment where more people can participate, benefit, and feel represented, and we’ll keep moving in that direction with our partners and communities,” he added.
