The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has announced a milestone year for Business Events Penang in 2025, underscoring robust growth across key performance indicators and reinforcing the state’s standing as a leading destination for high-value business events.

In 2025, Penang hosted a total of 3,391 business events, representing a 64.7% increase from 2,059 events recorded in 2024. Delegate numbers rose significantly to 451,198, reflecting a 47.8% year-on-year growth. Total room nights reached 824,505, an increase of 47.6% compared to the previous year. Collectively, these achievements generated an estimated Economic Event Impact (EEI) of RM1.91 billion.
This sustained growth was supported by strategic infrastructure developments, including the addition of more than 2,000 new hotel rooms and enhanced direct flight connectivity. These advancements have strengthened Penang’s accessibility and appeal to both regional and international delegates.
Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO of PCEB, highlighted the bureau’s strategic direction: “At PCEB, we turn insight and foresight into action. By using data, market intelligence, and global best practices, we refine our strategies to help partners transform opportunities into real outcomes and measurable impact across Penang’s business events ecosystem.”
Looking ahead, Penang remains focused on advancing high-value, strategically aligned business events that generate both immediate economic returns and sustained long-term benefits. Central to this direction is the Penang Inspiring Meetings campaign, which extends beyond hosting events to curating meaningful and purposeful experiences. The initiative reinforces Penang’s position within the international business events landscape and reflects a commitment to delivering transformative, experiential gatherings that foster authentic connections and create impact that extends beyond the destination.
