Resorts World Genting (RWG) ushered in Chinese New Year 2026 with the launch of “CNY in the Sky”, a festive campaign that blends cultural traditions, immersive storytelling and elevated experiences set high above the clouds.
The celebration is anchored by the debut of RWG’s Chinese New Year 2026 brand film, which sets the tone for the season through a festive narrative inspired by reunion, renewal and shared joy. Rooted in time-honoured traditions and meaningful seasonal moments, the film presents a refreshed approach to festive storytelling while staying true to the essence of Chinese New Year.
The launch also marked a significant milestone for RWG as the Genting SkyWorlds Immersive Studio received national recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records as the highest-altitude immersive attraction in the country. The recognition reflects the resort’s continued focus on immersive entertainment, creative storytelling and distinctive guest experiences in a high-altitude setting.

The brand film further introduces Tian Ma as the official mascot for Chinese New Year 2026 and the newest member of Genting’s Highland Heroes (GHH) family. Representing the Horse zodiac for 2026, Tian Ma embodies progress, renewal and the spirit of moving forward, values closely aligned with the festive season. To extend the celebration beyond the screen, limited-edition Tian Ma plush toys will be made available exclusively for Genting Rewards members through redemption and purchase.
Chinese New Year is about coming together, reflecting on the past year and looking ahead with hope together. With ‘CNY in the Sky’, we aim to celebrate these traditions in a way that feels meaningful and memorable while creating festive moments that bring families and loved ones together. ~ Spencer Lee, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Public Relations at RWG

Joining Spencer Lee on stage during the launch were key collaborators behind the brand film, including Sandeep Joseph, CEO and Co-Founder of Ampersand Advisory; Chew Boon Wai, film director; and Wesley Tan Seah Ging, Managing Director of Aqina Group of Companies. The film was developed by the award-winning agency Ampersand Advisory, led by Sandeep Joseph, together with Janice Kiew, Head of Creative Services, and Claudia Low, Creative Director, in collaboration with Chew Boon Wai, bringing together storytelling, visual craftsmanship and cultural nuance.
Guests at the launch were invited to experience the Chinese New Year-themed immersive video at the Immersive Studio, featuring festive visuals and seasonal storytelling presented in a unique high-altitude environment. The immersive experience will be available for Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park guests from 9 January to 3 March 2026.

Beyond immersive entertainment, the Chinese New Year celebrations at Resorts World Genting will feature a comprehensive programme of festive dining, cultural performances and seasonal activities. Guests can look forward to reunion dinners, festive gatherings and curated culinary experiences designed to bring families and loved ones together.

The festive programme begins with the Sau Gong Dinner, an appreciation dinner for corporate and enterprise partners, followed by the Hoi Gong Dinner, symbolising an auspicious start to the year as employees return to work. In addition, the Genting International Convention Centre (GICC) has curated a range of pork-free Chinese New Year banquet packages, available until 31 March 2026, supporting both corporate and social celebrations.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, a wide range of Chinese New Year promotions and dining experiences will be available across the resort. Signature restaurants and buffet venues will feature seasonal menus, while traditional offerings such as Yee Sang will be available throughout the festive period, adding a symbolic touch of prosperity and togetherness.

The celebrations extend beyond dining, with a full calendar of entertainment and cultural activities, including Chinese New Year Eve countdown festivities, prosperity shows, traditional performances and festive bazaars. Guests can also enjoy curated retail experiences, including the Flower Market at SkyAvenue and Flavours of Genting, offering a selection of festive treats and seasonal essentials.

Digital engagement played a role in amplifying the launch, with content creators Hanxiiaoaii and BapaBros present to share moments from the celebration with their audiences, extending the festive cheer beyond the resort through social platforms.

“CNY in the Sky” marks the beginning of a resort-wide Chinese New Year celebration at Resorts World Genting, where cultural traditions, immersive entertainment, festive dining and vibrant retail experiences come together in an elevated festive journey. Adding to the year’s significance, 2026 also marks the 40th anniversary of Resorts World Awana, with guests set to enjoy a year-long series of special experiences and seasonal celebrations across the resort.
