UOA Group has pledged RM300,000 to the “Star Frontliners Initiative”, a fund set up to buy supplies for hospitals and medical staff in battling Covid-19.
The initiative was launched by Star Foundation, the charitable arm of Star Media Group (SMG), in light of the pandemic.
UOA Development Bhd managing director CS Kong said the contribution was aimed at supporting medical frontliners in their efforts and service to the nation.
On Wednesday, SMG pledged RM1mil to kickstart its Frontliners Initiative. SMG and Star Foundation chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said that providing financial aid for medical purposes was one of the ways the media company reached out to those in need.
“Malaysians have always been at the heart of what we do at Star Foundation. With the help of our readers, we have sponsored many medical surgeries in the last five years.
“Now, we want to do more. These are trying times but we can come out stronger if we stand together, ” he said.
Donations to the fund can made to Star Foundation-Medical Fund’s Public Bank account (31-9984 9230) via bank transfer, credit or debit cards.
For tax exemption receipts, donors need to fill in the Medical Fund-Donation Form available on the Star Foundation website.
UOA also launched the “Let Love Light Malaysia” campaign as a tribute to medical frontliners, with the hashtag #LetLoveLightMalaysia.
The facade of its three hotel buildings namely VE Hotel and Residence, Invito Hotel and Residence, and Komune Living will be illuminated at night to show the shape of a heart.
“We would like to invite all businesses and residents in the country to join in this campaign by displaying heart symbols across the skyline as a symbol of love and solidarity, ” said UOA.
