The Melaka State government would request from the National Security Council to provide more relaxation of the travel conditions so that visitors will be allowed to use private vehicles. This was based on the view of travellers’ constraint, especially those with families, to move from one tourist location to another, besides helping to reduce their travel costs. Meanwhile, the State government has also given the assurance that there would be no increase in the RM2 heritage tax imposed on visitors this year to encourage more tourists to visit Melaka.
During the launching campaign, Melaka was recognised by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) and Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN) as the first state that 100% compliance based on COVID-19 adopt and adhere guidelines and government issued COVID-19 SOP. In addition, there are 500 tourism related premises in Melaka will be certified with certificate of SOP compliance through stages.
