The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) is delighted to announce the selection of Mala Dorasamy as the new Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Having already been associated with MITEC as the Director of Marketing and Sales since 2017, Mala assumed the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer in 2021. As the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Mala will lead the efforts to position MITEC as a leading player in the Business and Lifestyle events industry.

Mala Dorasamy, originally from South Africa, brings a wealth of international experience as an accomplished executive. She previously held the position of Director of Marketing, Sales & Events at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), where she played a vital role in establishing the ICC’s global reputation, brand, and profitability.
With a remarkable career spanning over 31 years in the Business Events industry, Mala has a proven track record. Her expertise lies in various areas, including opening new Centers, project management of major United Nations/APEC/BRICS level events, strategy development, operational management, international marketing, business development, sales growth, safety and risk management, ISO/Halal implementation, and management.
Reflecting on the past two years and the importance of adaptability, Mala recognizes MITEC as a game-changer in Malaysia’s resilient business events industry. She is committed to catalyzing local and global business recovery and reform, emphasizing the significance of collaboration, partnership, integrated solutions, and resource pooling for effective and efficient turn-around for Malaysian businesses.
Mala Dorasamy is a results-oriented professional with extensive experience in strategic and managerial aspects of Convention/Exhibition Centre venue management. Her achievements have been recognized with accolades such as being nominated as one of the Top 40 Women in Mice in Africa for 2015 and receiving the South African Association of Conference Industry Fellowship Award.
