Hilton (NYSE: HLT) held the grand launch for DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City to an attending crowd of approximately 400 guests. The new 300-room state-of-the-art hotel provides access to the city’s vibrant business centre and nearby recreational destinations. This latest addition to Hilton’s expanding portfolio in Malaysia marks the sixth DoubleTree by Hilton in the country.
A highly-anticipated mixed development in i-City Golden Triangle, DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City welcomed special guests and members of the media to experience the hotel’s upscale comforts, from its well-appointed room and exceptional dining offerings to the spacious venues for weddings, business meetings, and more.
In attendance, the Sultan of Selangor, His Royal Highness, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, together with Her Royal Highness, Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, officiated the ceremony in the presence of Tengku Panglima Raja Selangor, Tengku Ahmad Shah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Dato’ Menteri besar of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, as well as Dato’ Zamani Ahmad Mansor, the mayor of Shah Alam. The event was commemorated with His Royal Highness signing the hotel’s plaque.
The grand launch showcased a cultural performance, a masterful Gelang Sari, by the dancers from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), along with a musical performance by a Malaysian violinist, and lecturer of music at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Joanne Yeoh.
Among notable attendees were the Chairman of I-Berhad, the owning company of the hotel, Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, accompanied by I-Berhad’s CEO, Puan Sri Tey Siew Thuan. The event also saw Mr Jamie Mead, Hilton’s Senior Director of Operations, South East Asia, who delivered a speech in celebration of the grand launch along with Mr Gagan Talwar, General Manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City.
