With substantial international collaborations pouring in and a string of significant milestones, there has never been a better time for Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) to tap on the Australian and Asia Pacific market at the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME), that take place at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), from February 13-15, 2023.
MyCEB has grown from strength to strength in establishing its global presence with strategic meeting appointments with the eleventh year of participation at AIME. This year, MyCEB leads the Malaysian delegation along with 8 strategic partners namely Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Business Events Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur Managed by Banyan Tree, Pullman Kuching & Pullman Miri Waterfront, Sarawak, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu and The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa.
A review of its 2022 business results showed the Bureau securing more than 190 international and regional conventions until 2030 in partnership with its affiliates, thus continuing to go drive the growth of the Malaysian business events industry and create endless opportunities for its industry partners.
Commenting on MyCEB’s triumph in championing the business events industry in Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB said, “Our partnership and strong collaboration with our industry partners made these successes possible. Furthermore, the commitment from the Malaysian Government has significantly improved our position in a highly challenging market. To date, we have approved subvention support, both financial and non-financial for more than 170 association conferences which offer a high economic value to the nation.”
“The Covid-19 two-year haul has granted the Asia Pacific countries an opportunity to reinforce focus and upturn the business events scene in the Asia Pacific region. Through our various support programmes that meets the breadth and depth of unique and exciting experiences, Malaysia’s participation in AIME 2023 will anchor new prominent demands of Meetings, Conventions, Exhibition, Corporate Incentives, and International Sporting Events. This return to the global renown tradeshow, where the business events industry decision makers meet for business adventures across Australia, Asia-Pacific and the rest of the globe will give grounds for Malaysia to further position our steadfast presence in this industry and welcome more prominent leads to be hosted in the future,” he added.
Collaboration is a key strategic move embraced by MyCEB. Following 2021’s signing of agreement with Thailand Convention Bureau (TCEB), Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), Seoul Tourism Organization, and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) under the Asia Convention Alliance, all parties have reached a mutual consensus to meet and discuss on the development and way forward for the alliance during AIME Melbourne. On a global front, MyCEB will also be part of Hybrid City Alliance, making progress for Kuala Lumpur in the HCA-ICCA Global Meetings Protocol.
