Sabah International Convention Centre took home two The BrandLaureate Sustainable Business & Brands Inspirational Achievement Awards 2022-2023 for Services — Multi Functional Convention Centre as well as The BrandLaureate Brand Leadership Award 2023 bestowed to the Chief Executive Officer Datuk Hajah Rosmawati Haji Lasuki, J.P. in recognition for her instrumental role in spearheading the growth and development of Sabah as a Business Events Destination, which helped to boost the State’s tourism industry and at the same time create business opportunities and more employment for the people of Sabah.
The theme of this year’s The BrandLaureate Sustainable Business & Brands Inspirational Achievement Awards is Move Your Business & Brands Upward, Onwards and Forward, See Beyond, Move Beyond and Go Beyond to celebrate well-deserving and enduring brands that have displayed exceptional brand leadership to thrive and strive amid adversities and emerge as sustainable and awe-inspiring brands.
The two awards were presented to Datuk Hajah Rosmawati in a glittering gala dinner held at The Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur last night.
Founded in 2005, The World Brands Foundation (TWBF) formerly known as Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (APBF) is the world’s only branding foundation dedicated to developing brands in a myriad of business backdrops. Winners are evaluated and selected by the Brand Committee based on a stringent criteria including brand strategy, brand culture, brand information, brand performance and brand communication.
“We are honoured and pleased to receive such prestigious awards from The World Brands Foundation,” said Datuk Hajah Rosmawati.
“We opened in February in 2020 and went into a lockdown the following month. We had to find innovative ways to sustain the convention centre as well as our team of employees”.
“Focusing on creativity and flexibility, we create new experiences by exploring unconventional spaces. We used these unconventional spaces for our internal events and invite key people from all industries to come and experience SICC’s hospitality. The response was encouraging and the guests shared their stories and recommended us to their families and friends”.
SICC has been aggressively exploring opportunities as well as new platforms to promote Sabah Borneo as the latest Business Events (BE) destinations, infusing two of Sabah’s greatest asset — nature & culture, creating an exceptional BF experiences through SICC. SICC also brings the outdoor inside through creative integration of our nature in our interior décor. These visual connection allows guests to connect to the natural world, stimulating cognitive functionality and performance.
To strengthen SICC and Sabah’s international profile and network globally, SICC collaborated with strategic partnerships from various industries including the federal and state governments, Business Events associations, hotels, travel agents, destination management company, professional conference organisers, colleges and other event suppliers.
Sabah International Convention Centre was also recently honoured with the prestigious 2023-2025 ASEAN MICE Venue Award – Exhibition Venue Category by the ASEAN Tourism Awards. The award presentation will be held in conjunction with the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 5 February 2024.
