In conjunction with Global Exhibitions Day (GED) 2023, Malaysia’s premier venue, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has reported a 13% growth in its exhibition segment compared to 2022, with 53 trade shows and 1.4 million exhibition visitors taking up space at the 33,000sqm facility this year.
“We are delighted to see the growth in our exhibitions segment and it is a reassuring sign that trade shows are important business and marketing components of an organisation. It is motivating and heartening to see the resilience of the exhibitions industry in its strong comeback, with higher demand and offering more value to exhibitors and visitors alike. Trade shows are the real marketplace where commerce is facilitated and connections are fostered and this year’s GED theme captures this perfectly,” said the Centre’s General Manager, John Burke.
Themed “We Run the Meeting Places and Marketplaces for Everyone”, this year’s GED emphasises the pivotal role played by global exhibitions in shaping the marketplaces for customers and building communities of the future.
Reflecting this, Paul Harwood, Managing Director of Westrade Group Ltd (an international exhibition and conference organiser), who recently successfully organised Trenchless Asia 2023 at the Centre, shared that, “Trenchless Asia 2023 witnessed significant growth and successfully positioned Kuala Lumpur as the hub for trenchless technology in Asia. The high quality visitors attracted to the event facilitated meaningful business interactions and networking opportunities, leading to successful outcomes for exhibitors and delegates alike.”
Malaysia’s exhibition industry is supported by a strong supply chain of suppliers and contractors and the combination of these experienced professionals with the country’s cost advantages, ensures high-quality services and value-for-money. The Centre works with a range of accredited suppliers to ensure all services are in compliance with international standards.
Building on its commitment to industry development, the Centre will be hosting a complimentary knowledge-sharing platform for Malaysia exhibition organisers on June 30. Presented by international speaker and expert on trade show engagement and conversion, Lee Ali, Managing Director, Expo Stars Interactive Ltd., the masterclass is an educational opportunity for Malaysia’s exhibition industry to engage, share and exchange knowledge with an international expert on enhancing exhibitor engagement and optimising their return on investment from trade shows.
Moving forward, the purpose-built venue is currently gearing up for several recurring and first time high-profile exhibitions such as Energy Asia 2023, International Medical Exhibition & Conference 2023, Cyber Defence and Security Asia 2023, the 19th Asian Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals Engineering Exhibition (OGA) 2023, Food & Hotel Malaysia (FHM) 2023, Malaysia International Marine Expo 2023 and e-Mobility Asia 2023.
