The 8th edition of Penang’s Homegrown Conference, BE @ Penang 2023 is back on December 7 and 8, 2023 at the Setia Spice Convention Centre, Bayan Lepas. This premier Business Event (BE) conference is owned by Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB), with support from the Penang government.
Themed “BE Reinvents” the conference aligns with the ongoing efforts to enhance the industry’s sustainability, inclusivity and impact. As a vital gathering for professionals in the events, tourism, and hospitality sectors, the annual conference serves as an educational platform for knowledge-sharing and skill development, providing valuable insights and tools for global success.

Distinguished speakers include Julius Solaris, acknowledged as the world’s most influential leader in event technology and BE. Recognised as the “Meetings Industry Influencer of 2022” by Meetings and Conventions Magazine, Solaris brings ground-breaking insights from research conducted for over 3,000 events and interviews with more than 15,000 professionals. Other notable speakers include Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim, the group managing director of World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, and Datin Lorela Chia, President of the Malaysia Association of Sustainable Supply Chain and Innovation.
The two-day programme covers sustainability sessions, focusing on event waste and best practices aligned with ISO 20121 standards. Addressing diversity and inclusivity, a session titled “Breaking Barriers: Making Events and Travel Industry More Inclusive” features Malaysian author and artist K. Aveena Devi, born with spina bifida, and blind undergraduate student and avid traveler Ernest Teoh.
