Sabah, renowned for its natural beauty and cultural diversity, is set to make its mark on the global business events stage. Datuk Dr. Hajah Rosmawati Haji Lasuki, the Organising Chairperson of BE in Sabah, MACEOS Sabah Chair, and CEO of Sabah International Convention Centre, unveiled a groundbreaking initiative during a press conference on January 23, 2024.
In her opening address, Datuk Dr. Hajah Rosmawati expressed gratitude to the local press and attendees for joining the exciting venture that aims to amplify Sabah’s presence in the business events industry.
“Sabah has always been renowned for its awe-inspiring natural landscapes, cultural diversity, and captivating attractions,” she remarked, highlighting the region’s unique fusion of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
The centerpiece of this venture is the Business Events Forum, a dynamic two-day event scheduled from February 29 to March 1, 2024, at Sabah International Convention Centre. The forum, jointly organised by MACEOS Sabah Chapter and SICC, with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah and Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia, aims to redefine the landscape of business events in Sabah.
With the theme “Gathering of the International Business Events Communities,” the forum transcends conventional conferences, bringing together local and international thought leaders, decision-makers, and industry professionals. Datuk Dr. Hajah Rosmawati emphasised the primary objective: to engage with key stakeholders, foster collaboration, and catalyse growth and innovation within the business events industry.
“The aims of the forum are transformative,” Datuk Dr. Hajah Rosmawati explained, underscoring the goal to raise awareness and unlock the potential of business events for Sabah. The forum will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, featuring expert speakers and panelists who have successfully nurtured business events in their respective regions. Simultaneously, it will facilitate networking opportunities and the exchange of leads.
Datuk Dr. Hajah Rosmawati encouraged industry professionals to actively participate in certification programs, engage in industry-related associations, and join other business events programs. The ultimate goal is to position Sabah as the preferred business events destination in the Asia Pacific region.
The forum promises a transformative experience with an impressive lineup of speakers, including eight international speakers, eight Malaysian speakers, and five local Sabahan moderators. Professionals from various facets of the business events industry are encouraged to participate, contributing to the growth and vitality of the region’s business events ecosystem.
