The nation’s business events industry came alive today with the official launch of Malaysia Business Events Week 2024 (MBEW2024). This annual flagship event, organised by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), was successfully inaugurated by Dr. Yasmeen binti Yasim, Deputy Secretary-General (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.
Set against the dynamic backdrop of Kuala Lumpur at the esteemed Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, MBEW2024 is themed “Business Events and Technology with Sustainability” (BEATS). Drawing approximately 300 local and international delegates on its opening day, the event will continue to serve as a focal point for top industry professionals, thought leaders, and innovators until 22 August.
He further added, “As we enter our ninth year, this year’s theme emphasises the need for integrating sustainable practices with technological advancements in the business events industry. By the end of the week, our primary objective is for delegates to gain valuable knowledge and insights on innovation and how business events can better integrate sustainability into their practices. This process can advance rapidly through collaborations among stakeholders, driving positive change and accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable global economy.”
Delegates at MBEW2024 will have the opportunity to participate in a diverse array of programmes meticulously curated by MyCEB. This year’s event includes key initiatives designed to shape and define the future of business events in Malaysia.
MBEW 2024 also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between MyCEB and Centexs Commercial Services (CCS). This strategic partnership highlights a shared commitment to advancing Malaysia’s business events industry, particularly in enhancing skills development and fostering innovation. The collaboration aims to create greater synergies between the two organisations, driving growth and establishing Malaysia as a premier destination for business events.
The week-long event commenced yesterday with the Asia Convention Alliance Forum (ACAAF2) and EVENTXPO, organised by the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS). These exclusive pre-events, reserved for invited trade partners, involved international members of ACA, including the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), Seoul Tourism Organisation (STO), and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
In the coming days, delegates can look forward to a range of programmes, including expert panel discussions, breakout sessions, and a bid workshop by MyCEB. Invited participants will also have the opportunity to engage with the Department of Standards Malaysia, which will be present for a public consultation on Malaysian Standards for Business Events.
