The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), owned by MATRADE, has reaffirmed its position as a global leader in the events and hospitality industry by securing top honours at both the World Travel Awards (WTA) and the World MICE Awards (WMA) for the second consecutive year.
This notable achievement reflects MITEC’s consistent dedication to excellence, innovation, and delivering superior service. MITEC has been awarded “Malaysia’s Best Convention Centre 2024” by the World MICE Awards and “Asia’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre 2024” by the World Travel Awards. These accolades are a testament to the Centre’s state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology, and commitment to supporting world-class events.
Recognised as the highest distinction in the global travel and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sectors, these prestigious awards reinforce MITEC’s leadership and ongoing commitment to providing exceptional experiences for its clients and visitors on an international scale.
MITEC’s portfolio of events demonstrates its capability to host mega-events for organisers, exhibitors, and visitors alike. Among the highlights for this year are the Defence Services Asia & NATSEC Asia 2024, which attracted 47,587 attendees from 114 countries, the 54th Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), which saw over 170,000 visitors and generated RM230 million in sales, and the Absolut Festival X Festival Gaya Raya 2024, a 66-hour non-stop event that generated RM20 million with over 2 million visitors. In addition, recent incentive events included the Perfect China International Convention, which hosted over 10,000 international delegates and was followed by an 8-course Chinese set dinner fully catered by MITEC’s in-house culinary team, as well as the International Dragon Awards Annual Conference, which brought together 11,000 global financial insurance professionals over four days.
As the largest convention and exhibition centre in Malaysia, MITEC aspires to position itself as the premier gateway to Southeast Asia, serving as a critical hub for regional and global collaboration, innovation, and growth.
