Resorts World Genting (RWG), Malaysia’s premier integrated resort, announced today its intention to sign five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth RM12 million at its inaugural sustainability-focused exhibition, the Genting SustainBiz F&B Expo at the Genting International Convention Centre.
The expo began with the signing of the first MoU with Nestlé Malaysia, securing the supply of Harvest Gourmet plant-based products for MICE events and RWG’s F&B outlets. This was followed by a second MoU with Fraser & Neave (F&N), exploring the use of 100% recyclable Tetra Pak-ed natural mineral water to reduce plastic and single-use bottle dependency at the resort. RWG also inked a third MoU with PNH Malaysia for upcycling food waste and transforming it into carbon powder, which will be used to create hotel amenities such as toothbrushes, hair combs, and cutlery for RWG.
Representing RWG in these signings was Spencer Lee, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Public Relations, with Lee Thiam Kit, RWG President and Chief Operating Officer, witnessing the proceedings. The respective signatories for the other companies were Yit Woon Lai, Head of Nestlé Professional Malaysia Singapore; Lee Lay Yean, Commercial Director for Premier Milk (a member of the F&N Group); and Jian Tat Lee, Chief Operating Officer of PNH Malaysia.
RWG is scheduled to sign two additional MoUs on the second day of the expo—one with Farm Fresh and another with Aqina Farm. The MoU with Farm Fresh will focus on a joint marketing campaign promoting nutritional awareness and healthy living at RWG, while the agreement with Aqina Farm will explore the purchase of pineapples cultivated by B40 farmers.
The Genting SustainBiz F&B Expo marks the beginning of a dynamic three-day event featuring free workshops, networking opportunities with top-tier buyers, and knowledge-sharing on the latest trends in F&B sustainability. The opening ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia.
Seven chefs from the Resorts World Genting Superchef Squad were honored at the event for their invaluable contributions to the F&B industry. They received badges from Lee Thiam Kit, witnessed by Jennifer Ong, CEO of the HAPA Group, and Peter Dewey Foster, RWG Executive Vice President for Leisure, Hospitality & Lifestyle.
The Genting SustainBiz F&B Expo expects to welcome 3,000 visitors and features 50 multinational and local brand exhibitors over the next three days. It will highlight innovations in sustainable food production, packaging, food waste management, regenerative agriculture, food innovation research, and eco-friendly commercial equipment. World-class and local brands such as Nestlé, Cremer Sustainable Foods, Kimberly-Clark, Gelatomio, World New Energy, Temasek Polytechnic Singapore, Sunway University, Taylor’s University, and Farm Fresh will be among the exhibitors.
Visitors can also attend inspiring presentations and panel discussions on sustainable food trends, hosted by professional emcees Freda Liu and Adrian Seet. Additionally, Nestlé Malaysia and RWG’s Superchef Squad will offer plant-based and sustainable cooking demonstrations, along with food tasting sessions.
