The Marriott Bonvoy Portfolio Hotels, located in IOI Resort City and Puchong, proudly participated in Earth Hour 2025, a global movement uniting individuals, organisations, and communities in support of environmental sustainability. Held on March 22, 2025, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, this year’s Earth Hour was marked by a series of impactful activities aimed at raising awareness and encouraging positive action towards a more sustainable future.
In collaboration with Ooli Ooli, the Visit IOI Resort City mascot, five renowned hotels — Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Le Méridien Putrajaya, Palm Garden Hotel Putrajaya, Moxy Putrajaya, and Four Points by Sheraton Puchong—curated a range of interactive and educational events leading up to and during Earth Hour. These activities highlighted eco-friendly practices and emphasized the importance of sustainability within the hospitality industry.
Sustainable Culinary Experience at Le Méridien Putrajaya
The celebrations began on March 21, 2025, with Ooli Ooli visiting Le Méridien Putrajaya for a sustainable breakfast experience. The sustainable breakfast was complemented by other buffet offerings at the hotel’s Latest Recipe restaurant, promoting environmentally friendly food choices.
Tree Planting at Palm Garden Hotel Putrajaya
Following the breakfast, Ooli Ooli traveled to Palm Garden Hotel to participate in a tree-planting event. The activity, held at the hotel’s recreation area, involved planting palm trees, aimed to reduce carbon footprint, improve air quality, and contribute to the fight against climate change.
Championing Sustainable Meetings at Four Points by Sheraton Puchong
Later in the afternoon, Ooli Ooli actively participated in promoting sustainable meetings at Four Points by Sheraton Puchong. Sustainable Meetings prioritize linen-less setups, digital signages and the elimination of single-use plastics, which significantly reduces waste and resource consumption. By embracing this eco-conscious steps, both hotel and meeting organizers can lower their carbon footprint while maintaining a professional event experience.
Glow in the Dark Zumba at Moxy Putrajaya
On the evening of March 22, 2025, Ooli Ooli led guests in a “Glow in the Dark Zumba” session at Moxy Putrajaya. Hosted by Lululemon, the energetic Zumba session incorporated LED lights and other creative, sustainable elements, offering a unique and fun way to celebrate Earth Hour.

The celebrations concluded with Ooli Ooli’s visit to Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, where he met Owen the Owl, Marriott’s mascot. The two mascots then visited the Pentas Citarasa Ramadan buffet, where they distributed giant cookies and bedtime story cards to children, promoting sustainability and environmental awareness.
Sustainable Bedtime Stories for Earth Hour
In line with the Earth Hour theme, the participating hotels distributed “Bedtime Stories” cards in guest rooms and to hotel visitors. These cards shared educational content on sustainable practices and offered tips on reducing the impacts of climate change, inspiring guests to adopt eco-friendly habits in their everyday lives.
