The BE in Sabah Business Events Forum, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), marked a transformative moment for Sabah on the global stage. The inaugural event, organised by MACEOS Malaysia Sabah Chapter and SICC, brought together international business leaders, innovators, and stakeholders under the theme “Gathering of the International Business Events Communities.” The two-day exploration aimed at fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth within the global business events industry.
Sabah, known for its natural beauty, positioned itself as more than a hidden gem, asserting its ambition to be a premier destination for business, leisure, and investment. YB Datuk Christina Liew, the Minister of Culture, Environment, and Tourism, emphasized the significance of hosting the forum on an international scale, aligning with Sabah’s commitment to economic growth and development outlined in the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) direction.
The establishment of the Sabah Convention Bureau and the allocation of RM5 million for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) events showcased a strategic approach to elevate Sabah as a dynamic business events destination.

MACEOS President Francis Teo and YBhg. Datuk Dr. Hajah Rosmawati highlighted the forum’s role as a catalyst for socio-economic growth, job creation, and knowledge exchange. The diverse lineup of speakers, including international experts like Professor Dr. Keiko, provided valuable insights and perspectives.
The forum concluded with the signing of significant agreements by Sabah International Convention Centre, solidifying collaborations with hotels and educators to enhance hospitality services and educational initiatives. Deputy Minister YB Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, in his closing speech, emphasized the golden opportunity for Malaysia’s tourism sector and the crucial role of MICE events in boosting the domestic economy.
