As part of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, in conjunction with the festive Christmas season, Lexis Suites Penang together with Pertubuhan Wanita Mutiara Pulau Pinang and Rose Charities Malaysia hosted 66 less fortunate and underprivileged children from Crystal Family Home, Pusat Permulihan Komuniti Permatang Damar Laut, Penang Deaf Association, Malaysia Buddhist Association Kindergarten and Woman Centre For Change Penang to a Christmas Tree Light Up and CSR Programme at the hotel itself. The age of the children range from 4 years old to 15 years old.
The charity event started off by ushering all of them at the hotel’s beachfront for a session of fun games and activities by the VIP’s, YBhg Puan Tan Lean Kee, President of Wanita Mutiara Pulau Pinang, Dato’ Lawrence Cheah, President of Rose Charities Malaysia, Mr. Ben Ho, General Manager of Lexis Suites Penang, distinguished guests and fellow hotel’s staffs.
They were then feasted to a sumptuous Christmas Hi-Tea buffet spread in our al fresco outdoor dining area, Sky Terrace at Level 24, specially crafted by our Executive Chef, Chef Johnno Fong and his culinary team. The menu includes Open Face Smoked Chicken, Honey BBQ Chicken, Chicken Nugget, Curly Fries, Macaroni with Mushroom, Yang Zhou Fried Rice, Assorted French Pastries, Ice Cream with Condiments among others.
They were also greeted with surprise appearances of Santa Claus and Santa Rina’s handling out gingerbread, snowman, candy cane cookies and assorted sweets to them. To add to the excitement, they were also treated to special demonstrations such as balloon sculpture and soap bubbles much to the delight of them. Besides that, the hotel’s Sport & Recreation team decked in their superheroes costumes were seen mingling around and having fun with the children too.
After the hearty and filling meal, they were then ushered back down to the lobby to witness the Christmas Tree Light Up ceremony much to the thrill of everyone when the dazzling lights of the Christmas tree was switched on coupled with the gimmicky chilly snow that was drizzling down on the tree. There were also Christmas Carolling session together with all the children which includes evergreen festive Christmas songs such as ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’. It definitely added a soothing touch to the event.
In conjunction with the festive Christmas season and ushering in the new year of 2020, we continue to do what we do best, in spreading cheers to the less fortunate ones and by helping them in fulfilling their needs for the greater good as a whole.
The program ended with a group photography session of all those who were involved. It was a joyous and memorable evening indeed.
