Celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, the Royal Floria Putrajaya is Malaysia’s leading annual flower and garden festival, drawing participants from all over the world. Since 2007, roses, lilies, hibiscuses, heliconias, bougainvilleas, begonias and more have taken the centre stage in past iterations, and thistime around the theme is ‘Mother of all Gardens: Orchids & Bonsai’, drawing the focus on these two desirable plants.
This year, the festival will be held at the Putrajaya Botanical Garden, also presenting the Pahang ‘Royal Garden Showcase’ as the festival’s main attraction. The selection of Botanical Garden, which had a rich and mature collection of plants, could add mileage to the RFP as well as promote the park itself.
With the theme ‘Mother of All Gardens’, the Royal Garden Showcase at this year’s RFP was in line with the installation of the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Interestingly, the showcase will feature an orchid named Queen Azizah Iskandar, after Her Majesty Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, the Raja Permaisuri Agong.
There are more than twenty thematic gardens are up for entry into visitors’ to-see lists this year, forming the base on which a floral adventure can happily take root. The Chrysanthemum Garden, Royal Garden, Musical Garden, Magical Garden, Tea Party Garden and Designer Garden are among these, each bringing to the table an enveloping experience based on their themes. Tropical Magic in a Glass, a terrarium-style exhibition, is another immersive prospect. In addition, there are numerous exhibition booths covering a wide scope of gardening topics allow you to brush up on your floral knowledge, and should your green thumb begin to itch, you can find great deals on products, furniture, tools and plants.
Apart from showcasing various types of flowers, the festival is packed full of exciting activities that will held daily such as flower arrangement demonstrations, gardening workshops, entertainment shows, photography competition, watercolour contest and other arts and craft events. Besides 1,500 parking lots in the Botanical Garden, the organisers would also provide buses for visitors and ‘water taxi’ services.
