Resorts World Awana (RWA) today welcomed His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, to officiate the reopening of the newly remodelled Resorts World Awana Golf Course, marking the completion of its most extensive redevelopment since the iconic 18-hole golf course first opened in 1986.

The officiation ceremony was attended by Dato’ Sri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Menteri Besar of Pahang; Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor; Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Senior Political Advisor to the Prime Minister; together with representatives from Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM), led by Chairman Gen Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri (Dr) Mohd Zahidi Bin Haji Zainuddin (R) and President Lee Thiam Kit.
The reopening of the newly remodelled Resorts World Awana Golf Course represents another milestone for Resorts World Genting, following the recent debut of Eufloria Gardens & Sculpture Park. Both developments reflect the integrated resort’s continued commitment to creating nature-inspired attractions and enriching the visitor experience in Genting Highlands.
First opened in 1986, Resorts World Awana Golf Course has undergone a comprehensive transformation across all 18 holes. The redevelopment includes redesigned greens, fairways, bunkers and teeing grounds, together with enhancements to several hole layouts and the relocation of one hole. New Black and Gold tees, enlarged greens, upgraded drainage and irrigation systems, and resilient Zoysia matrella turf have also been introduced to enhance playability and maintain year-round course quality.

More than an investment in golfing excellence, the redevelopment reflects Resorts World Genting’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Approximately two-thirds of the golf course grounds have been preserved as natural forest, allowing golfers to enjoy a unique highland setting surrounded by cool mountain air, lush rainforest landscapes and the signature misty ambience of Genting Highlands.
With its refreshed design and upgraded facilities, Resorts World Awana Golf Course further strengthens Resorts World Genting’s position as one of Malaysia’s premier leisure and tourism destinations. The championship-calibre course offers golfers a distinctive highland golfing experience within one of the country’s most scenic resort environments.
Golfers and visitors are invited to experience the newly remodelled Resorts World Awana Golf Course and discover a new chapter of golf in Genting Highlands, where thoughtful course design meets the natural beauty of Malaysia’s premier hill resort.
