The Southeast Asian Healthcare & Pharma Show (SEACare) 2024 witnessed an unprecedented display of regional and global enthusiasm, signalling a promising trajectory for the healthcare industry in the Southeast Asian region.
This year’s edition of SEACare has witnessed a surge in interest from healthcare conglomerates, with notable participation from new entrants such as companies hailing from Iran and Latvia, marking their debut in the event’s 24-year history. The overwhelming response led to the complete allocation of exhibitor booth spaces within a mere six months of registration opening, with nearly 100 companies securing their presence at this esteemed trade show.
Richard Teo, Executive Chairman of Qube Integrated (M) Sdn Bhd (Qube), the newly appointed organiser of SEACare, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We are thrilled to announce that all booth spaces have been swiftly filled within six months, underscoring the robust regional and international interest in SEACare.” Teo, a seasoned industry leader who founded Qube in 2003, emphasised the pivotal role SEACare plays in shaping the future landscape of healthcare and pharmaceuticals in the region. “SEACare aims to be at the forefront of innovation and industry collaboration, in line with Malaysia’s vision to emerge as a premier healthcare sourcing hub,” he added.
Under Qube’s stewardship, SEACare underwent a comprehensive transformation, forging strategic partnerships with esteemed organisations such as the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS). These collaborations birthed new initiatives aimed at enriching the expo experience and fostering meaningful interactions among industry stakeholders.
The partnership with MATRADE saw the introduction of a dynamic business matching programme, facilitating potential sales valued at nearly RM 30 million on its inaugural day alone and another RM 100 million on day two. Additionally, SEACare featured engaging talk sessions led by industry luminaries and policymakers, alongside networking opportunities geared towards fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration.
Highlighting the significance of international cooperation in healthcare, Malaysia’s Minister of Health, YB Datuk Seri Dr Haji Dzulkefly bin Ahmad, underscored the pivotal role exhibitions like SEACare play in advancing industry standards and fostering cross-border innovation. “SEACare serves as a catalyst for knowledge exchange and industry advancement, offering a platform for stakeholders to explore innovative solutions that transcend geographical boundaries,” he remarked during the expo’s official ceremony.
