Malaysia took a significant step forward in reinforcing its position as a strategic player in the global Business Events (BE) landscape with the successful hosting of the MyCEB Association Day 2025 & Kesatria Malaysia Induction Ceremony. Organised by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), the event gathered influential association leaders and policymakers to chart a collaborative course for the nation’s BE future.
Under the theme “The Power of Business Events Through Associations,” the programme shed light on the vital contribution of associations in securing international conventions and driving Malaysia’s reputation as a destination of choice for impactful global events. Held at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, the event convened past and potential event hosts — individuals who have previously led large-scale international events — to exchange ideas, align goals, and advance the country’s strategic objectives.

Officiating the ceremony was Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), YB Tuan Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, who reaffirmed the importance of BE to the national economy.

Celebrating Champions of BE – Kesatria Malaysia Induction
The centrepiece of the event was the induction of new ambassadors into the Kesatria Malaysia Programme — MyCEB’s flagship initiative dedicated to promoting Malaysia as a host nation for international events. These newly appointed Kesatria ambassadors will serve as passionate advocates, leveraging their networks to encourage peer associations to bid for and organise global conventions in Malaysia.
Since its inception, the Kesatria Malaysia Programme has been instrumental in attracting 98 international events, contributing an estimated RM1.58 billion in economic impact and drawing nearly 124,000 delegates to the country.

Strategic Collaboration and Industry Empowerment
The full-day programme offered a robust agenda including opening remarks by YB Tuan Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, impactful panel discussions on association growth, industry trends, and the evolving BE landscape in Malaysia. The day concluded with a networking reception, sparking potential collaborations among association leaders, event organisers, and government agencies.
Miss Tan Mei Phing, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB, reiterated the bureau’s commitment to enabling association success and long-term industry resilience.

A National Imperative for Growth
As Malaysia continues its upward economic trajectory, business events remain a key driver in fostering investment, stimulating innovation, and enhancing global knowledge exchange. Through continued collaboration between government ministries, industry leaders, and association champions, Malaysia is well-positioned to elevate its international standing and unlock new opportunities in the trillion-dollar global BE economy.
MyCEB’s strategic initiatives — bolstered by the unwavering support of Kesatria ambassadors and dedicated stakeholders — are paving the way for a more connected, competitive, and resilient Business Events ecosystem, aligned with the nation’s broader economic ambitions.
