Gwangju Traditional Culture Center is the representative of Gwangju, a place where Korean tradition comes alive!
Located at the entrance of Jeungsimsa Temple at the edge of Mudeung Mountain, the Traditional Culture Center is a traditional Korean building that boasts a stunning harmony of nature, urbanity, tradition and modernity.
Gwangju Traditional Culture Center also recognised as one of the great unique places for holding international level of conference or meeting.
In 2016, the centre was used as a place for dinner banquet during the 7th ASEM culture ministers’ meeting. At that time, around 200 delegations including in ministers and vice-ministers on culture field from 43 Asian or European countries could taste superior traditional performance, dishes and tea.
Opened in 2012, the Gwangju Traditional Culture Center preserves the intangible cultural properties while developing a cultural space where visitors can enjoy the cultural traditions of the southern provinces of Korea. The center offers various experience programmes and performances such as tea ceremony, Pansori, Gayageum, Pyebaeksang Table for Korean weddings and more.
With readily accessible Korean traditional culture through hands-on experience programmes and creative events, the Gwangju Traditional Culture Center can be enjoyable for team buildings or families.
On the way down from from Mudeungsan Mountain, visitors can stop by the Gwangju Traditional Culture Center for the regular performances held every Saturday. Here, you can enjoy the serenity the mountain by sitting on the wooden floor of the center and listening to the sounds of wind and water.
